Namibia, sparsely populated and famous for its
stark beauty, has one of the most spectacular desert ecosystems on earth and is
situated on Africa's southwest coast. Its low
population can be attributed to the country's harsh geography: the coastal Namib
Desert (the oldest desert on the planet), central semiarid mountains and Kalahari Desert east of the mountains.
Nevertheless, an astonishing amount of wildlife exists here. Etosha National
Park is the most well-known and is one of Africa's greatest parks in both size
and variety of wildlife. Other attractions Of Namibia are the amazing Himba
people, Ongava Game Reserve, the Skeleton Coast and the highest sand dunes in
the world at Sossusvlei, to mention just a few. Namibia is becoming a well-known
safari destination with a difference, known for its remote and intimate lodges,
wildlife and interaction with indigenous people.
