 Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge

GORILLA TREKKING - 3 to 4 days
Spend a few days in Rwanda to walk in the footsteps of Dian Fossey and view one of our closest living relatives, the critically endangered Mountain Gorillas in their mist-shrouded habitat atop the Virunga Volcanoes. Journey through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda's landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the amazing volcanoes.
Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge is only minutes away from the headquarters of the Parc National des Volcans from where guests trek on foot to see the gorillas – perhaps one of the most dramatic and poignant wildlife experiences possible. The lodge is situated in the foothills of the Virungas with wonderful views of the volcanoes and the surrounding countryside. The lodge is owned by a Community Trust, which uses funds to drive socio-economic and conservation initiatives in the communities adjacent to the National Park. Accommodation comprises five double cottages, two suites and one family suite. No more than 8 people may visit any of the habituated gorilla groups on any given day, so you can be assured of having an intimate experience. The trek can be quite strenuous, so you should be able to hike for two or three hours on steep mountain trails. Alternatively we can relax at the lodge, visit some of the local villages or markets, or trek to see the endangered Golden Monkeys that also make this area home.

Day 1: Fly to Kigali and overnight at Serena Kigali
Day 2 and 3: Transfer to Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge or Serena Lake Kivu.
                    Day 4: Return to Kigali.

Rates available on request and dependant on duration of stay, type of accommodation, etc. Itineraries shown are examples only - all itineraries booked are custom designed.
